The first half was nice asphalt, then it turned to horrible gravel. Pretty rough, but near flat. 30K of rough dirt (but improving... the first part was much worse than the later stuff). When we got to the river we expected to find a hotel or something, but there really wasn't much. The old bridge has a kind-of abandoned "tourist center" and the owner happened to be around and let us camp in the restaurant area.
